Description
Stranded on Earth for twenty years, the aliens want to be free. Wikus van der Merwe (Sharlto Copley), a government agent in charge of transporting the alien population from District 9 to a newer alien-only District 10, is accidentally exposed to a dark liquid from an alien device, and starts to get sick. Now considered a hazard, Wikus must rely on the “prawns” to save their kind, as well as himself.
The film uses this situation to tackle the issues of segregation in society, and the fear of the unknown. Neill Blomkamp directed the film from an adaptation of a short film he produced back in 2005, and was produced by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings).

Comments about SONY PICTURES District 9:
I was swept away. First time I saw the movie I did not know anything about it and at first I was baffled but I fast caught the felling of this "documentary". Best of all is Sharlto Copley and the accent he uses throughout the movie. Now I have seen this movie several times and there are new things still popping up. I like the design there is usede, like the poster it gives the sense of world there is real. This movie was so great that I bought another copy to my brother.

Comments about SONY PICTURES District 9:
This was not what i expected at all but i still enjoyed it. It has far more comedy in it than you would expect just from the title and picture's. The alien's were great. It doesn't portray the human race in a very good light but what's new. It's very well done and thoroughly enjoyable.

Comments about SONY PICTURES District 9:
The film is a personal thing. If you like an original alien film, or tired of the run of the mill Hollywood stuff, this is for you. For South Africans (or ex-South Africans) it would be funnier due to the use of Afrikaans language in the film. The curse words are hilarious. The Blu-ray is absolutely awesome. SONY did a fantastic job with the transfer. Very crisp and clear. dts-HD Master Audio does not hurt at all... well unless you play it loud, he he. It is equally as impressive. Highly Recommended Blu-ray Disc.
