Description
Marcus Mumford's voice dominates the new album with its gravelly nature and soulful depth. The lyrical themes resonate with those who approach love with an almost spiritual zeal. Mumford describes "a love that will no longer betray or dismay you, it will set you free/make you more like the man you were meant to be." Mumford delivers their message with such sincerity and conviction that they will undoubtedly draw the listener in and present him or her with a powerful musical experience.
"A White Blank Page" is one of Sigh No More's weightiest pieces. Mumford & Sons conjure up the image of a man imagining writing a letter to someone now beyond his reach. The vocals are filled with a tense blend of anger and sorrow, underscored by instrumentals led by dramatic violins and quick bursts of piano. The trumpet playing in "Winter Winds" is hauntingly melodious and deserves particular attention and accolade.

Comments about GLASS NOTE Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More:
Mumford & Sons certainly tap a folk-rock vein long since dormant, and while it can get a little repetitive there's no faulting the cathartic power of their arrangments and Mumford's lyrics.

Comments about GLASS NOTE Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More:
Although this is a very original-type band, with their songs and instrumentation, this album just didn't do anything for me at all. It's not bad, I guess, it just swept over me completely (even the supposed "hits"). I always find it funny/weird when EVERYONE is talking about new bands like this and how great they are, and then you go and listen to the album, and nothing, doesn't do anything for me. I guess I can see the appeal and maybe I just have to wait for album #2 (or #3) before I can appreciate what they do. Sorry, 4/10 from me.

Comments about GLASS NOTE Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More:
A great debut album from this folk-rock group with a great live act. 'The Cave' and 'Little Lion Man' stand out as highlights and there are very few weak songs in the entire album. A good album for a BBQ or a road trip.

Beautiful mix of rock, folk and banjo. The band sings harmoniously sounding sing a long melodies. The songs build up slowly, to reach a crescendo. Great cd! Great voices!

Comments about GLASS NOTE Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More:
Bought it as a gift for my wife, then discovering the massive amount of hits and range that could qualify as potential hits. In a range of CDs purchased recently, this has to be the #1. If you heard and like one of their songs, you can safely push the 'order' button. You'll be playing this one over and over again, singing along and trying to master the right accent in doing so.
