Description
Formed from a demo the King of Pop recorded in the early 80's, the piano and vocals were given strings and the backing vocals of Jackson's brothers to create one more piece of unique sound that the world renowned pop star has created. The second disc contains three unreleased versions of songs you've heard before, and a spoken word poem called 'Planet Earth'.
The documentary follows the King of Pop from March to June of 2009, showing a behind-the-scenes look into the over one hundred hours of footage taken of the entertainer as he prepares for the tour that never was. Directed by choreographer Kenny Ortega (Dirty Dancing, High School Musical), the film gives one last look at Jackson at work.

Dont be fooled by the cover, this is a collection of the original recordings of the songs from the This Is It movie. There are no live performances. Even so, it's a nice collection over 2 CD's - the second being strangely short - but featuring 2 versions of the song This Is It. The packaging is well presented, a cardboard gatefold sleeve with lots of glossy photos from the movie inside.

Saw the original on the big screen, but had to buy this to look and listen to years from now.
Michael Jackson is in his own genre, just like Elvis, Beatles, Buddy Holly. Amazing showmanship and the perfection he demanded.
It's a pity Michael wasn't around to edit some of the songs to be more polished, as his voice sounds quite raw and harsh on some tracks. There could have been more songs included, but maybe they will be on a second album if his family have the extra material.

On the surface this album looks like just another cobbled together cash in product from Sony Music, released to co-incide with the theatre release of the late King Of Pop's "This Is It" documentary. But no, when the songs are this good, it doesn't matter how many times they are released, they are still worthy of purchase.
This album is truly for the fans - the fans of old, and also the new fans who have only recognised his talent after his death. Every track on this album is a bonafide classic.
