Description
The band have been previewing 4 new tracks in their recent live sets Congratulations, Its Working, Flash Delirium, and Song For Dan Treacy. Describing the album title, the band explained "It was more of a sarcastic congratulations. It just feels right. It's funnier now. We had no idea what was going to happen with the first album in terms of success or radio play. You know, it's been a crazy year so now it's even more annoying that the second albums called congratulations."
This is going to be a brilliant way to start 2010.

Their fisrt album was better, but this one is the proof of a new style of rock n roll mixed with an old school music.
I love this band!

Comments about SONY Mgmt - Congratulations:
What instantly impressed me about this album is that they weren't scared to go away from what made them so popular. Interviews with the guys have revealed they've never considered themselves an "electro-pop" band, so it was good to see them go back to a '60's vibe. Although SONY consider this a flop, you can tell they are in their element on tracks like "Brian Eno" and "Somethings Missing". Avoiding commercial appeal is risky but this kind of album will appeal to true music lovers who enjoy an album over a hit single.

Forget about Oracular Spectacular this as nothing to do with it, more guitar and less sinthetizers and above all NO SINGLES in this one, but still a great album, a must be in the best of 2010 lists.

Comments about SONY Mgmt - Congratulations:
Much better than their first album. Here they have moved on from commercial, catchy pop to music that they want to pursue for their own interests. We end up with a psychadelic array of masterpieces which could easily have been recorded in the summer (of love) in hippy 1967.
best album of the year so far, no hit singles, but songs are catchy and brilliant nontheless.

Comments about SONY Mgmt - Congratulations:
First impressions are that this isn't as immediate as Oracular Spectacular. Most of the tracks have less obvious hooks than the first album, which may confuse or frustrate on a first listen if you think you are getting more of the same. In the same way as when Radiohead made Kid A, not everybody will "get it".
Hang on though... it stands up to repeated plays, with a quirky ambiance that leads on from the second half of the first album. If after repeated listens, you still only listened to the singles of Oracular Spectacular, you probably won't be into this, but if you found yourself strangely drawn in by their trippy dreamlike melodies, you will find another quality selection of their off the wall tunes.
